That's depression talking—and it's exactly why our approach works. We start small and build gradually. Even if you feel depleted, we meet you where you are. Sessions are structured to be manageable, and homework is scaled to your current capacity.
Most people see meaningful improvement within 12-16 sessions of CBT or behavioral activation. Chronic or recurrent depression may require longer treatment. The goal is not just to feel better temporarily but to build skills that prevent relapse.
Not necessarily. Research shows that CBT and behavioral activation are as effective as medication for mild to moderate depression—and have longer-lasting effects. For severe depression, a combination approach may work best. We can coordinate with your prescriber if needed.
Chronic depression (dysthymia) is treatable. Many people with long-standing depression have adapted to it so thoroughly they've forgotten what 'normal' feels like. Treatment can still help—often dramatically. It may take longer, but change is absolutely possible.
