About Takeisha Rheams

Adolescent Therapist Naperville Takeisha Rheams

My expertise began with adolescents and young adults, and has grown to include adults of all ages who are navigating anxiety, stress, and big life transitions. I’ve worked in a variety of educational and clinical settings—including an alternative school, therapeutic day school—supporting teens and young adults as they face real-world challenges at home, at school, and in relationships.

In these settings, I’ve helped students and emerging adults manage:

  • Family conflict and communication issues
  • Academic pressure, school stress, and college adjustments
  • Relationship problems, friendship struggles, and breakups
  • Anxiety, depression, self-harm, and low self-confidence

I also discovered that I genuinely enjoy working with complex, challenging issues, including oppositional defiance, impulsivity, and emotional outbursts. This experience shaped my passion for helping both young people and adults who feel stuck in patterns they’re ready to change.

Who I Work With

I provide therapy for:

  • Teens who feel overwhelmed by school, friends, or family
  • College students and young adults navigating identity, independence, and “what’s next?”
  • Adults juggling work, relationships, parenting, and personal stress

Common concerns I work with include:

  • Anxiety and chronic worry
  • Depression and low motivation
  • OCD and intrusive thoughts
  • Self-harm and emotional dysregulation
  • Low self-esteem and self-worth
  • Women’s issues, including boundaries, people-pleasing, and life transitions
  • Relationship issues (romantic, family, or friendships)
  • Impulsivity, oppositional or defiant behaviors

My goal is to meet you where you are and help you move toward where you want to be.

How I Work: Collaborative, Compassionate, and Hands-On

I see therapy as a collaboration between therapist and client. I believe deeply in providing a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can speak openly and know that you are being heard—not criticized.

My therapeutic approach is sincere, compassionate, and down to earth. I draw primarily from:

  • Client-Centered Therapy – so you feel understood, respected, and truly seen
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – so you get practical, hands-on tools to tackle your problems

Together, we will:

  • Identify painful thoughts, beliefs, and patterns that keep you stuck
  • Understand how those thoughts affect your emotions and behavior
  • Practice new ways of responding so you can make healthier choices
  • Build confidence, resilience, and a clearer sense of who you are

I believe therapy should not be a lifelong process. My goal is to help you learn how to help yourself, so you leave with skills and insight you can use long after our work together ends.

If you’re ready to reduce anxiety, manage OCD, improve your relationships, or feel more grounded in your daily life, I’m here to help.
